My friend and coach: Rick Eigenbrod Rick is an expert in the weird field of "What happens when you get what you want" which is the title of his book. Rick does coaching and is among the wisest and kindest people you'll ever meet.

I view this Yale article as the foundational text of life beyond the finish line. Its author, AJ Wasserstein has become a friend and generously invited me to participate in this follow up article on the important questions you'll face in retirement.

My friend Anastasia hosts an excellent podcast called Exit Paradox. She interviews post-exit founders of all types. She also writes on the topic and occasionally hosts retreats for people like us. She was kind enough to have me as a guest.

My friend John Rood wrote this excellent book about life beyond the finish line.

Books, podcasts, other stuff to consider:

MoneyWise Podcast from Sam Parr. This is one of my favorites. If you listen to them all, you'll hear me as a guest back in May of 2025, I think.

Die With Zero - you may have come across this title already. I think it has some interesting ideas, but it's hard to implement literally. Cool title thougth.

Psychology of Money book by Morgan Housel. He also does a podcast here.

Chip Conley hosts retreats that have been attended by friends that say good things. Believe it's more focused on transition than specific to post-exit founders.

Have also heard good things about the Hoffman Process. Have not done it myself.

Arthur Brooks wrote a couple of good books. I got value from these, but their conclusions left me a bit flat.

Other Groups:

I'm not recommending any of these, but you may find value in:

Tiger21 - not necessarily for founders, but for UHNWIs. I was a member for part of a year, but found most of the talk was about money and how to make more of it. Your mileage may vary.

Hampton- in person founders group. I'm not a member but probably should be. Think it's more geared for those still operating a business, but worth checking out.

PEF (post-exit founders) group. This is a growing community with free and paid options, local groups and a lot of activity. The bar is relatively low to join, so expect you may get more requests for your help than your true community. I could be wrong, it's worth checking out.

LongAngle - I have not done much with this group, but understand they have offerings for people like you and me.
